Ever wanted to find Boise’s best “basement” bar (and no, we don’t count Dirty Little Roddy’s)? Well look no further than JT Toad’s. For those of you saying “JT Toad’s? Where the hell is that?” You’ve probably already been there and didn’t realize it, as it’s commonly called “Grainey’s basement.”
Yes, that cement-walled bar with the DJs and live bands that you stumbled upon when you took a wrong turn looking for the bathroom is officially known as JT Toad’s Lounge. And what this basement bar lacks in natural daylight, it makes up for in eclectic wall covers (as seen by the photo) and an ever more eclectic crowd. Oh yeah, the drinks are pretty good, too.
JT Toad’s features the same drinks, so Jameson is definitely the drink of choice. It also has the same specials as its upper-half, which includes a six hour-long Happy Hour and nightly specials on the weekends. So if you’re looking to grab a nice drink, enjoy a live DJ or band and hang out with one of the most diverse crowds in Boise, JT Toad’s is for you.
If you want more info, you’ll have to stop in. The internet is a barren resource when it comes to explaining JT Toad’s (excluding this review, of course).

Mike:
JT Toad’s value lies in it being under the radar. It’s not an overly crowded bar like Roddy’s or the Bistro, but the feel is the same. They have $1.25 Rainier cans that begs to be drank by college students and Washingtonians alike, along with other specials like $2 Kamikazes and $3 Kamikazes so that your girlfriend can drink on the cheap, too. The live DJs and bands do a good job of getting the crowd lively and when flowing well, the whole place has a very electric feel to it. It was definitely good way to end a night of reviews for the boys at BBG.
